Transmission Line Protection System

The stability and security of the national grid depend on the flawless operation of its transmission infrastructure. EPS provides specialized, cutting-edge solutions to protect these critical assets. Our services ensure that transmission lines are guarded against faults, outages are minimized, and system reliability is maximized. We offer a complete suite of services, from design and studies to implementation and modernization of protection systems.

System Studies and Design Engineering

We begin with critical system studies, including load flow analysis, short-circuit level calculations, and relay coordination studies. These studies determine the fault currents and ensure protective devices operate in a selective, coordinated sequence to isolate faults without causing unnecessary widespread blackouts. Based on this, we engineer the complete protection scheme, specifying the appropriate relays, circuit breakers, instrument transformers, and communication links.

Implementation and Integration

Our team manages the supply, configuration, and installation of modern microprocessor-based protective relays (distance, differential, overcurrent) and communication-assisted trip systems (e.g., Transfer Trip, Fiber Optic). We integrate these systems with existing Substation SCADA and Control systems, providing operators with real-time visibility and control over the grid’s status.

Testing, Commissioning, and Modernization

We ensure absolute reliability through rigorous testing, including Primary Injection Testing (PIT) to verify the entire circuit from Current Transformer (CT) to the relay and breaker. After commissioning, we provide comprehensive documentation and as-built drawings. We also help utilities modernize aging protection infrastructure, upgrading them with modern IEC 61850 compliant systems to enhance grid resilience and smart grid capabilities.
